“It’s really important for HR and Talent folks to work in different organizations to get a feel for different business units and industries because you get a well-rounded perspective on how the profession is perceived and valued.”

- Matt Chapelsky

What parts of your Talent or HR career do you value the most in retrospect?  What did these parts give you and how do they help you today?   In today’s episode, my guest explains ways to build a well-rounded perspective, and paints a picture of how he strategically applied that perspective to a recent large acquisition.

My guest is Matt Chapelsky. Matt is currently VP of HR at Force Inspection Services, an oilfield services company located in Nisku Alberta.  He has over 15 years experience in industries ranging from pharmaceuticals, industrial construction, airlines, and oil/gas manufacturing. He’s passionate about learning all aspects of HR and specifically in the talent development world. He’s a husband of 14 years and father of two kids. When not working he follows his passions which include coaching his kids basketball and soccer teams, playing the piano, learning to cook French food, and wasting time with fantasy football.

In this episode of Talent Management Truths, you’ll discover:

🍏  How to gain insight into your own organizational culture - through experience outside of it

🍏  An intentional approach to integrating a larger firm after an acquisition

🍏  Strategies to navigate a tight (5%) labour market
